Description
This is the ultimate late 50’s P Bass & perhaps 1 of the finest examples to surface w/these cool transitional features in 100% untouched original condition, it has its rich & unfaded original 3-Tone Brown’burst finish over a very beautiful Alder body pencil dated 7/58, these final issue Fender Maple Necks are getting ridiculously rare but once in a while we get surprised to find yet another uncirculated Gold’gard, its got a nice full sized Maple neck pencil dated 5/58, it’s sporting a very cool serial # (025XXX) stamped on its 4-bolt neck plate, its original Gold anodized pickgard is absolutely one of the finest we’ve ever encountered, its sporting a very late production “Raised A Polepiece” split pickup that’s super smooth w/that quintessential “Rufus & Chaka” funk tone !, its pot date codes are from the 7th & 19th week of 1958, its so cool from its nickel tuners to its thin threaded saddle bridge & still retains its bridge & pickup covers along with every single screw from new, this is perhaps Leo’s best designed P Basses & she has a gorgeous patina for a 66 year old original, it plays & feels incredible, other than having a few dings & a Quarter size buckle rash on back, she’s 1 of the best & most desirable examples on Earth, truly exceptional in all respects & comes in a nice recent tweed hard case.
