Description

Ibanez first introduced the Paul Stanley PS10 Iceman in 1978 as one of their very first signature model instruments. This one was completed in February 1980 and it shows Ibanez really hitting their stride as a major player in the guitar world, producing top quality instruments that surpassed most of what American companies like Gibson and Fender were doing at the time. This one is all original and it is in good condition overall. It’s definitely been played, as there are scratches, scuffs and small dings throughout. The back of the guitar has a good amount of buckle rash, deep dents and a couple of large scraped areas. There are some dents and dings in the back of the neck as well. There is some pitting and flaking on some of the chrome, and the mirrored pickgard is missing and the mirrored plate behind the tailpiece has some dulling and scraped areas. The cream binding most on the right side of the body has some major wide discolored areas that have faded to a dark browinsh color. It’s crystalized but is very stable. Rumors have it this axe came from South America early on & was stated to have been owned previously by Paul Stanley himself & traded off when on tour there. Looking into that now but no proof other than it’s been played to death by someone ! Despite these cosmetic issues, everything is structurally rock-solid, with no cracks or major repairs and no missing pearl. The frets are in great shape and appear to have been fairly recently dressed. All the parts are original, including the killer-sounding pickups. The tuners, bridge, knobs, switches, and such are all exceptionally high quality and still work perfectly even after 45 years. Playability is excellent and the sounds are big and fat, perfect for delivering Kiss-approved hard-rocking 70s-style tones. It’s Very Good shape overall & comes in its original square hard case. It’s ready to be enjoyed by its next “Kiss” Caretaker.
