Description
Where do we start…the 1965 Shelby GT-350 has got to be the “King” of the Muscle Car world in the US of A. This example, serial # 5S430, was delivered new to Williams Ford in W.Hartford, Connecticut on 9/15/65. It was then consigned to the world famous Tasca Ford to retail to it’s 1st owner. In 1968, Gordon Collins walked into Slaten Chevy in Ft.Lauderdale. To his disbelief, there sat 5S430 just traded in on a new Chevy. Gordon owned another ’65 GT-350 that his Dad made him sell after 19 tickets were accounted for. He was wanting another one to take to the Drag Races & be competitive. An hour later on November 11th, 1968, Gordon walked out of Slaten Chevy for $1550. + tax & had himself his dream car back. He became the 2nd fastest E Production car in Florida. The only cars to beat him on the 1/4 mile was the Ford Factory w/a 427 loaded Galaxy Wagon…who would have thought. In 1970, Gordon was talked into retiring the GT-350 & sold the original motor for $250. to buy his then & current wife an engagement ring. Hence, that is why she now is equipped w/a factory produced K code Coupe motor that has it’s original stamping on the rite side of the block that is perfectly date coded & rebuilt to new specs. It has 39K original miles on it & it’s full owner history is as follows: 1st owner…unknown. Sold to Gordon Collins of Hollywood Florida in 1968. Sold to Kenneth Wesche of Lakeland Florida in 1973 in it’s original red, white & blue “Snakebite” livery minus engine. Sold to Ron Dickerson of Orlando Florida in 1975. Sold to Steve Gentry of Orlando in 1990. Sold back to Ron Dickerson in 1995. Sold to Jackie Jones from Jackie Jones Ford in Georgia in 1999. Mr.Jones painted the car back to it’s original Wimbledon White & did a very nice high-end restoration & installed a date coded 289 Hi-Po motor. Then sold to Craig Brody in 2001 by Pete Geisler from Orlando Mustang & still lives w/us today. It has perfect original panels & floors. It has been freshend up to show winning spec & is one of the best original cars available today w/a wonderful race history & most owners of the car are alive & well. Don’t miss this documented GT-350 !
