Description
The 16″ line of Gibson Archtops are some of their best from the 50’s & 60’s. This is a fully acoustic L-4C w/a sharp Florentine cutaway that most people think is an acoustic ES-175 but they differ drastically. The 175’s are all laminated maple. This L-4C has a solid carved Spruce top w/maple back & sides w/a 1 piece mahogany neck w/a 1 11/16″ nut width. Its Dark Sunburst finish has wonderful patina having lots of weather checking all over that shows its originality. Its got a double parallelogram inlaid Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard w/nice original frets. Its Kluson Deluxe tuners w/both double line & double ring buttons tune perfectly. Its nickel plated tailpiece is quite clean. Its bindings are all perfect & she’s very lightweight. 1 owner for the past few decades who enjoyed having its 50’s D’Armond Rhythm Chief mounted to its original black pickgard that made the perfect combo for any great jazz player would enjoy. It’s truly excellent overall w/no cracks nor any repairs ever & comes in its original black tolex/red lined soft-shell case.
