Description

In 1964 this model was the top tier classical guitar for Epiphone and was never surpassed. This model was made from 1963-1968 & shortly after Epiphone moved production to Japan and never made classicals at this level of quality again. These are great guitars with great wood. These were produced in very small numbers and you won’t often see 2 for sale at the same time because of this. These guitars were made at the Kalamazoo Michigan plant which I suspect most of you know is where Gibsons at that time were made right next to them. Epiphones at that time were not inferior guitars but equals and show extreme levels of quality craftsmanship and detail. This model is the EC-300 Barcelone & was very special ordered for a good client. These are usually made of very nice woods w/a spruce top and normally having curly maple back and sides. This example was made w/some spectacular colorful Brazilian Rosewood on its back & sides & we’ve never heard of another one in near 40 years in business. It’s got a Black bound body with fan bracing and 14.25″ width and a 4″ body depth. Nicely carved rosewood bridge with bone saddle, flush with the body no lifting. The neck is 1-piece mahogany with french heel and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. Well seated and cut nut. Plate mounted gold tuning machines with Pearl buttons. Has standard 25.5 inch scale. Has a great sound that is loud and warm. It may be a 1-off example & should be enjoyed in a nice guitar collection. It is excellent overall & can never be repeated ever again by Gibson. It comes in its original hard case.
