Description

This is 1 of the coolest unknown guitars we have ever unearthed. Mr. Gaetano (Thomas) Puntolillo (from Potenza, Italy) founded the Majestic Musical Instrument Company in 1900 making mostly Mandolins yet was most famous for his Tenor Banjos & sold necks to S.S. Stewart & Weymann. He actually quit school to be an apprentice for a builder as a kid. As time passed Thomas moved his family to New York to start his own business & then settled in New Jersey in the 20’s. This is where this beautiful Serenader Jazz Guitar was produced.

This is a very unusual Top of the Line c.1940 Majestic Aristocrat Archtop Jazz Guitar made along the lines of many Gibson & Epiphone guitars of the period. Its Dark Sunburst finish is in fabulous shape for an 85 year old having a wonderful patina. It’s very similar in size to an L-5 with Super 400 appointments. Its gorgeous multi laminated bound body has a matching bound round sound hole along w/a pair of single bound F-holes. Its huge 7-piece maple & walnut neck has a delightful bound Ebony fingerboard & headstock reminisant of Gibsons past w/a Super 400 headstock pearl inlay & some very ornate multi-piece block inlays on its fingerboard. It’s sporting its original bound Tortoise’gard, an Ebony bridge & a set of open back Gold war time Kluson tuners. Its last interesting trait is its cool tailpiece w/a pair of matching F-holes cut into them. We’ve never seen one like this & it’s very exciting to see. She sounds simply amazing great for any type of Jazz. It’s crack free & ready to enjoy. Comes in its original Majestic logo’d brown tolex/purple lined hard case.
