Description

We have available this rare golden era Gibson J-45 that’s wonderfully rare & all original. Its Ice Tea Sunburst finished Mahogany Top is absolutely stunning & may be the best one we’ve encountered as apposed to a normal production J-45 w/a standard spruce top. Its mahogany back, sides & neck are quite clean too. This was a 1 year only War Time 1946 J-45 made just after the famed Banner headstock era 45’s ended in 1945. Only in 1946 did Gibson stop using its Banner logo & went w/a Gold Script logo’d Headstock prior to them transitioning to their block Gold logo that they used from that point forward. Its still sports its original open back Kluson tuners w/War Time metal plug inserts holding its gear in place not with screws yet she’s equipped w/a truss rod. This beauty exhibits the classic “spiderweb” checking all over the original finish on the body, and down the neck. It has the standard dings, dents, and bruises one would expect of a 78 year old instrument, including 1 professionally pro-repaired vertical back crack (see pictures). The neck is straight as an arrow with slight relief. The neck was reset by Ross Teigen & the action right now is wonderful, very comfortable and perfectly intonated up and down the neck with no buzzing. The truss rod has plenty of room to move in both directions. When plucked, this guitar sings gently and with precision and grace, but also boasts a powerful bass and sweet and melodic midrange when strummed more aggressively. The frets show a little bit of wear, but still have a ton of life left in them. This rare beast is truly excellent in all respects & will come in a nice non-original hard case.
