Description

This is a very cool rare 1967 Rickenbacker 366/12 w/a factory 6/12 “Comb Converter” in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This Rick features its famous, fabulous & rich Fireglo finish over some of the best figured maple used by Rickenbacker during this era if you were lucky enough to find one. Tonally, there’s nothing that can match the iconic jangle, chime, and shimmer of the Rickenbacker 12 string design, and there’s plenty of warmth and sonic variety available between the two original “Toaster” pickups. Its double stacked white pickgards match its white truss rod cover. The original Kluson Tuners look like new as does all the chrome hardware. The Comb Converter simply grabs 6 of the 12 strings for solo work & remove the comb & voila…the sound is known within a few notes. Its production serial # starts w/a “GE” for May 1967. Its pot codes date to the 8th week of 1967. Its crushed pearl triangle fingerboard inlays are its most significant feature & look stunning. Its carved top is amazing & its “Checkerboard” bound back is just as nice. Its got exceptionally figured woods all over & may have been a NAMM show model in its day. It’s truly almost unplayed & from a famous collection as you can see why this was kept for decades as it may be the prettiest example of most any 360 from this period. This near 60 year old Rickenbacker is quite impressive w/its good looks & a combination of tone that rocked the 60’s music scene. Everyone had a 12-string Rick in their songs. These are actually very conservatively wound with modest output that keeps the top end snap and sparkle of the Rickenbacker sound very present in the mix. The guitar has a vibrant and clear acoustic voice. The Rickenbacker 12-string guitar has always been a steadfast factor for any 60’s Rock Music Fans as every band had someone playing one ie George Harrison, Tom Petty & Pete Townsend to name a few. She’s truly near mint overall, completely original & she comes complete w/her original Silver Tolex/Blue lined hard case.
