Description
For those who luv Les Paul’s, there’s a certain thrill of owning an original Gold Top w/P-90 pickups from the choicest years between 1953 thru 1956. In 1968 Gibson made the new Les Paul Std. model 2nd generation from leftover 50’s parts & were mostly like their version from 1956 w/a stop bar & a tun-a-matic bridge. In 1971, Gibson made their 3rd generation Gold Tops original called a 1958 Reissue (funny bean counters take) as some were Cherry’burst w/a tun-a-matic bridge. But most of this run thru 1972 had 1954 features & this example is from 1972. These 3rd gen LP’s had a perfect Gold Top finish that now aged looks like the 50’s yet so clean w/no checking. Its 1 piece mahogany body & 1 piece fat neck are believed original bits from the 50’s but who knows. It has no volute nor made in the USA stamps, just its original 6 digit serial # from 1972. Its 2 P-90’s are super powerful & have Gibson’s embossed cream covers only for 1972 w/just a stop tailpiece. She’s near mint overall & comes in its original square black tolex/yellow lined hard case.
