Description

Born in Madrid in 1926, Manuel Contreras joined the Ramirez workshop as a master luthier in 1959. It was Contreras who made the first José Ramirez guitar Andrés Segovia bought in 1960. After three years with Ramirez, Manuel opened his own guitar workshop in the center of Madrid. He soon earned a reputation as one of the finest and most innovative luthiers in Spain. This Contreras was made in his Madrid, Spain shop and shows signs of moderate play wear with some minor dents and scratches on the top. The top is spruce, the back & sides are Brazilian rosewood. Fingerboard is ebony, the bridge is Brazilian rosewood, and the neck is cedar. The guitar has a unique rosette design which is echoed in the purfling. The scale length is 663 mm and the nut width is 52 mm. Its label states it was made in Madrid by the original family & is signed personally by Manual himself. It’s an incredible example that has wonderful tonal quality & any good player will absolutely luv this Classical w/its 34 years of aging. It’s crack free & in truly near mint shape for the picky collector & comes in its original hard case.
